Band 6 - Staff Nurse for Renal (Epsom Unit)

We are looking for a highly motivated Staff Nurse to join our nursing team. You would have experience of, or an interest in renal care as well as being able to demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills. 

The South West Thames Renal Unit, Epsom Satellite unit has 20 stations which facilitate dialysis for St Helier University Trust Hospitals. The unit is open Monday to Saturday from 0630 to 1830 hours. The unit is shut on Sunday. This is a great opportunity to develop your dialysis and management skills.

The unit at Epsom Dialysis Unit is a nurse led unit and the team have a wide range of experiences and skills. Many have worked in clinical settings other than renal so have a great wealth of knowledge which we find enriches our practice. We strive to deliver care to our patients while at all times upholding the trusts' key value of respect. We have developed close working relationships with all members of the teams in the Renal unit at St Helier hospital. We have also developed effective cross-unit relationships with our colleagues across many of the other satellite units as well as departments within the main hospital . Main duties of the job

Under the supervision of Sister/Charge Nurse you will be accountable for the total provision, organisation and direction of the nursing care for the patient under your care.
You will assess, plan and implement specialised packages of nursing of care to patients as the named nurse.

You will ensure that care is patient-focused and that patient dignity and privacy are maintained at all times.

You will act under direction of the registered nurse in charge of the nursing team in setting standards and expectations in the quality of care. Take an active role in maintaining effective communication with all disciplines, patients and relatives.
You will represent patients at multi-disciplinary meetings ensuring that their needs are assertively presented. For example handover, discharge planning, attending case conferences, team referrals such as OT, physio, pain team, tissue viability, renal access and dietician

Experience

  • Previous Acute Healthcare experience, ward-based or in haemodialysis unit
  • Evidence-based practice

  • Previous experience in Renal Nursing
