Principal Clinical Neuropsychologist/Clinical Psychologist - 22.5hrs

NHS AfC: Band 8b

Would you like to work in an organisation that sits in the top 10 best NHS Mental Health, Learning Disability and Community Services Trust  to work for.  This ranking is based on staff feedback in the 2023 NHS Staff Survey.

Job overview

Part time role, 22.5hrs.  This is a fantastic opportunity for a Clinical Neuropsychologist or Clinical/Counselling Psychologist with interest, experience and skills in neuropsychological assessment and interventions for dementia. The post will provide leadership and assessments for our Memory Clinics in the Northwest, Mid and East Surrey community teams for older people, and supervision and training for the SABP Older People’s Services. We can support completing the QiCN where needed.

Candidates interested in an 8A to 8B Preceptorship opportunity are also welcome to apply if they do not currently meet all of the 8B criteria.  A development plan on appointment will outline your progression to the 8B Lead Psychologist post.

You will be clinically supervised by a registered Clinical Neuropsychologist and professionally supervised by the Lead Consultant Psychologist for Older People’s services. You will be working alongside an experienced Principal Clinical Neuropsychologist who is in a similar role for the South West and North Hampshire teams in the Trust.

You will be part of our well-established Older People’s Psychology team, where continuing professional development and staff support are highly valued. The service has strong links with the Clinical Psychology Doctoral Training Program at the University of Surrey, where we regularly provide placements and contribute to teaching on the program.

Main duties of the job

The clinical sessions for this post are in the Northwest, Mid and East Surrey community teams.  You will deliver high quality neuropsychological assessments and reports in line with professional, local and national standards, working with the multidisciplinary teams.  Travel to different bases will be required, as well as seeing people in their homes if needed.

You will provide group and individual supervision for the qualified and pre-qualified Psychologists who do neuropsychological assessments for dementia in the Older People’s services.

You will provide clinical and strategic leadership on the delivery of neuropsychological assessments and interventions for dementia within Memory Clinics for Older People.

You will ensure neuropsychology assessments and interventions are evidence-based, safe, effective and operate within professional standards.

You will support the multidisciplinary teams with neuropsychological aspects of dementia assessment and post diagnostic intervention, including formulation, consultation and training.

You will also contribute to the leadership and development of the wider Older People’s Psychology provision across the Trust as part of a team of senior Psychologists.
