Specialist Clinical Fellow Haematology

NHS Medical & Dental: Specialist Clinical Fellow

Job overview

This is a 6-month, fixed-term, full-time post based at Frimley Park Hospital, providing maternity leave cover for a Deanery Specialty Registrar.

The postholder will provide clinical support across the inpatient and day-case Haematology services, working as an integral member of the Haematology team alongside Consultant Haematologists, Specialty Registrars and the wider multidisciplinary team.

The role includes participation in the 1 in 8 weekend working rota and non-resident overnight on-call commitments. The postholder will be supported by a named Consultant, providing appropriate clinical supervision and escalation throughout the role.

Main duties of the job

The postholder will work under the supervision and direction of the Consultant Haematologists and will work closely with the Haematology SpR to provide high-quality clinical care to patients across the service.

The principal responsibility will be the daily assessment, management and ongoing care of clinical Haematology inpatients and day-case patients at Frimley Park Hospital. Patients will generally be under the care of one of the Haematology Consultants and based on G1 Ward, although the postholder may also be required to review and manage Haematology patients located on other wards or under the care of other clinical teams.

The postholder will contribute to the safe and effective delivery of inpatient and day-case Haematology services, working collaboratively with the wider multidisciplinary team and escalating clinical concerns appropriately to the supervising Consultant.
