We have an exciting opportunity within the Medicine Directorate for an Elective and Diagnostic Booking Officer, based at Frimley Park Hospital.

We’re seeking an approachable, patient-focused team player who naturally embodies our Trust values and brings a positive, professional approach to the workplace.

This is a busy and varied role, requiring exceptional organisational skills, the ability to multi-task, and confidence working to tight deadlines. Strong communication skills, a willingness to learn, and a collaborative mindset are essential.

You will be working within our Pacing Team, where your role will be key to supporting the smooth running of patient bookings and ensuring a high standard of service is maintained at all times.

 

Main duties of the job

The post holder will be responsible for booking appointments across all Trust sites. They will have an active role in the implementation, as well as ongoing monitoring of both new and existing appointments systems. The post holder will assist with meeting Trust targets. The post holder will be required to offer very high customer service skills for patients and both internal and external staff.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • GCSE English and Maths pass or equivalent
  • ECDL or equivalent
Desirable criteria
  • NVQ Level 2 Administration or equivalent practical knowledge

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Experience of working in a hospital or busy office environment.
  • Significant experience in difficult patient situations.
  • Some customer care experience
Desirable criteria
  • Call centre experience
  • NHS experience

Skills and Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Good communication skills both verbal and in writing
  • Demonstrate attention to detail and accuracy when completing tasks
  • Ability to work under pressure
  • Ability to work using own initiative
  • Excellent customer service skills and evidence of dealing with telephones and meeting targets
Desirable criteria
  • Good knowledge of NHS targets
  • Knowledge of clinical and surgical procedures
