Job overview

We are seeking a motivated, innovative and highly organised individual to join our experienced and expanding Nutrition and Dietetics team as a Dietetic Assistant (15 hours per week), based at Frimley Park Hospital working within the Home Enteral Nutrition service.

Working under the supervision of the Home Enteral dietitians, the successful candidate will help support adult patients to live independently with an enteral feeding tube. The role includes the administration of patient orders and monthly invoicing. You will also assist with nutritional assessments by gathering nutrition related information from patients. 

Administrative responsibilities will also include follow-up phone calls to patients, stock checking and assisting with stock queries, handling enteral feeding supplies, assisting with the registration of patients with various feed companies, the use of Excel documents for data collection and computer based analysis of patient dietary intakes.

The role requires good communication and problem solving skills, initiative, basic IT and office skills, and the ability to work flexibly as a valued member of the team.

Visa Sponsorship:
This position is not eligible for Skilled Worker visa sponsorship. Applicants must already hold the right to work in the UK for the full duration of the contract.

Main duties of the job

  • Support the Nutrition and Dietetics team at Frimley Park Hospital as a Dietetic Assistant.
  • Assist the Home Enteral Dietetic team with general office and departmental task.
  • Work under dietetic supervision to support patients on Enteral Feeding.
  • Retrieve and prepare patient information ahead of dietetic reviews.
  • Carry out stock checking and manage enteral feeding supplies.
  • Undertake computer-based analysis of patient dietary intakes.
  • Develop a good working knowledge of enteral nutrition products, feeding tubes and feed administration systems.
  • Respond to a range of queries using good communication, problem-solving skills and initiative.
  • Work flexibly as a supportive and reliable member of the wider team.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Educated to GCSE or equivalent standard in Maths/English
  • Undergone relevant theoretical and practical work-based training or holds academic/NVQ level III qualification
Desirable criteria
  • Undergraduate degree in Nutrition or Public Health
  • Member of British Dietetic Association as Dietetic Assistant

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Previous experience of working within public health
  • Secretarial/administrative experience with record keeping
  • Team working experience
Desirable criteria
  • Presentation/group work skills
  • Knowledge of stock monitoring
  • Experience of collecting data
  • Experience of working with patients

  • Good understanding and the role of a Dietitian
