Permanent Radiology Assistant – Full Time (Part Time Considered)

We are delighted to offer an exciting opportunity to join our friendly and dynamic Radiology Department as part of a supportive multi-disciplinary team. This role is ideal for someone looking to develop new skills and take the first step towards a rewarding career in Radiography and Radiology.

You will work across multiple sites, participating in a variety of shifts, including weekends, gaining valuable experience in a busy clinical environment.

About the role
You will play a vital part in supporting Radiologists and Radiographers with a wide range of radiological procedures, including Ultrasound and CT. There are excellent opportunities for learning and development, with exposure to other areas of the department as your skills grow.

Main duties of the job

  • To support the work of the Radiology Department across all sites; Wexham Park Hospital (Slough), Heatherwood Elective Centre (Ascot), St Mark’s Hospital (Maidenhead), King Edward VII Hospital (Windsor) and the Slough Community Diagnostic Centre at Upton Hospital.
  • To assist radiologists and radiographers in performing a range of Radiological procedures, including Ultrasound, X-ray examinations, MRI and CT.
  • To assist in all aspects of patient care within the Radiology department. 
  • To assist with housekeeping duties i.e., cleaning specialist equipment. 
  • To input accurate patient data into the Electronic Patient Record (EPIC) and DR/CR system in a timely manner. 
  • To make up slides of biopsy samples for microscopic examination by Histology/Pathology.
  • The post holder will be expected to work at all sites across FHFT North Radiology: Wexham Park Hospital (Slough), Heatherwood Elective Centre (Ascot), St Mark’s (Maidenhead), King Edward VII Hospital (Windsor) and the newly opening Slough CDC at Upton Hospital.
  • Commitment to shift work over a 7-day period.

Essential criteria
  • GCSE or NVQ Level 2 Maths & English or equivalent
Desirable criteria
  • NVQ in Care or equivalent relevant caring experience

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Previous reception duties.
  • Customer care/dealing with the public face to face or by telephone.
Desirable criteria
  • Previous experience of X-Rays and Radiological procedures.
  • Previous experience in a similar post or dealing with the public in a caring environment.

Skills

Essential criteria
  • Ability to work in a Team.
  • Ability to manage own workload
  • Be able to work to strict deadlines in a busy clinical environment.
  • Able to communicate with a wide range of people.
  • To be able to talk to patients and listen empathetically whilst working in a busy clinical environment.
