Job overview

We have an exciting opportunity to join the Berkshire and Surrey Pathology Service at the Frimley Park Site.

Frimley Park has recently undergone a total lab refresh and offers state of the art equipment in a dynamic, versatile environment.

This advert relates to MLA vacancies within the Blood Sciences team.

The laboratory offers opportunities for career progression within the department and can offer support for registration portfolio completion to aid this.

The FPH Lab is a Blood Sciences team which includes Biochemistry, Haematology and Blood Transfusion.

The team are an inclusive team that looks to engender teamwork and cooperation within all aspects of the team. 

Main duties of the job

The main duties of the MLAs include but are not limited too:

  • Analyser sample loading and unloading 
  • Analyser maintenance
  • Manual assay analysis
  • Stock control
  • General Laboratory duties

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Basic knowledge of Biology, Chemistry and Mathematics is essential
Desirable criteria
  • Basic knowledge of medical terminology is desirable
  • Basic educational qualification in mathematic.

Skills

Essential criteria
  • Multi-tasking skills, prioritisation skills and initiative
  • Ability to work to deadlines
  • Ability to follow procedures
  • Basic laboratory equipment skills such as measuring, pipetting, decanting, loading samples
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure
  • Good computer and keyboard skills, word processing, spread sheets and file management.
  • Willingness to develop knowledge (and skills) in all Blood Sciences disciplines.

  • Observant of detail, ability to make basic judgement decisions
  • Understanding of need for service quality.
  • Understands that work relates directly to patient care.
  • Understands need to work to deadlines and can do so.
