We are delighted to offer an exciting opportunity for a motivated and compassionate nurse to join our dedicated Cystic Fibrosis Unit at Frimley Park Hospital. Our purpose-built unit provides specialist care for patients with Cystic Fibrosis, and occasionally for those with other respiratory conditions. The unit comprises five inpatient rooms and five outpatient consultation rooms, offering a unique setting where you can develop specialist skills while delivering high-quality, patient-centred care.

Main duties of the job

  • With minimal supervision , be responsible for the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of patients needs
  • To assist in promotion of health
  • Demonstrate sound knowledge of infection control  standards and promote these within a unit environment 
  • To participate and assist in the systematic monitoring and evaluation  of nursing care
  • To liaise with the team leaders on untoward incidents ,complaints  and  team/staff issues 
  • To act in accordance with the trust policies 
  • To maintain your own profile
  • To act as a mentor to care assistants and assist in the induction of new staff
  • To support maintain team nursing, promoting good working relationship s within the MDT and internal and external contacts
  • To attend meetings and generate new ideas and initiatives
  • To attend mandatory updates in Fire, manual handling and blood transfusion
  • To act as nurse in charge of the unit, co-ordinating  admissions, transfers and discharges
  • To ensure confidentiality or patients information regarding patients, families and friends at all time

Essential criteria
  • Registered Nurse level 1
  • Current NMC registration
Desirable criteria
  • BSC Nursing

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Some experience working in an acute hospital trust within the last 2 years in the capacity of a registered nurse or student nurse
Desirable criteria
  • Recent experience working with adults with long term respiratory conditions such as Cystic Fibrosis, Asthma and COPD

Skills & Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Ability to provide nursing care of high standard
  • Ability to prioritise workload for self and support staff
  • Able to raise issues of clinical care with peers, doctors and line management
  • Self motivated and able to motivate others
  • Competent in IV administration, cannulation and venepuncture
