Job overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 6 Tuberculosis (TB) Clinical Nurse Specialist to join our dedicated TB service based at Frimley Park Hospital. This is a full-time, permanent position within a supportive and experienced multidisciplinary team committed to delivering high-quality, patient-centred care.

The post holder will be responsible for the assessment, management, and follow-up of patients diagnosed with both active and latent TB. Key duties include conducting contact tracing clinics, coordinating outpatient and community reviews, providing education and support to patients and families, and liaising closely with the lead TB Consultant, Public Health teams, and other healthcare professionals to ensure effective care pathways.

We are seeking a motivated and compassionate nurse with excellent communication, organisational, and clinical skills. You should be passionate about improving patient outcomes, proactive in your approach, and able to work both independently and as part of a wider team.

We offer comprehensive induction, ongoing training, and professional development to support you in gaining and enhancing specialist TB knowledge. A full UK driving licence and access to a car are essential, as the role involves community visits and outreach clinics.

Main duties of the job

Care for patients with suspected or diagnosed TB, supported by the TB team

Take responsibility for managing TB contact screening &  migrant screening for both adults and children (performing Mantoux, QuantiFeron blood test & CXR) & BCG vaccination

Monitoring active/latent TB treatment for both adult and children
Make differential diagnosis within level of competence, supported by the TB team

Plan and provide treatment in collaboration with others as appropriate, to include monitoring of treatment as well as managing Directly Observed Therapy regimens

Work independently, but also as part as a multi-disciplinary team
Use their knowledge and clinical judgement to decide whether to refer patients for investigations, such as a chest X-ray.
