Career Progression and Apprenticeship Lead

Band 7

Job overview

An excellent opportunity has arisen for an individual to lead the Trust in expanding its career progression and apprenticeship service. Working as part of the learning and organisational development function, the focus will be on creating a culture of opportunities and development for our staff and local communities.

Main duties of the job

We’re looking for a dynamic, inspirational individual who is forward thinking and committed to developing the service. Ideally you will have experience of managing a career service or apprenticeships or both.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the management of the service and oversee the day to day operations related to careers and apprenticeships and be expected to be the specialist point of contact for managers and staff across all areas in the Trust. You will manage and develop members of your team and also contribute to the development and delivery of other initiatives within the broader L&OD team.

Our mission is to deliver a sustainable and successful careers programme that offers high quality employment opportunities, delivers high quality patient care and supports local people into fulfilling and rewarding careers.

The suitable applicant will have exceptional leadership skills and be a confident communicator, with a track record of providing strategic direction, effective decision making, and driving delivery and governance oversight. They will be friendly and organised with excellent time management and prioritisation skills and an enthusiastic team player who would enjoy the challenge and rewarding job of encouraging, developing and inspiring staff to maximise their potential.

Working for our organisation

Royal Surrey is a compassionate and collaborative acute and community Trust. Recognising that our 5000 colleagues are our greatest strength, we offer a comprehensive health and wellbeing program along with a commitment to developing and advancing your career. Our diverse and welcoming Royal Surrey family will ensure you that you feel valued from your initial interview through your entire tenure.

We are clinically led and provide joined up care by bridging the gap between hospital and community services alongside regional specialist cancer care. Our main acute hospital site is in Guildford with community hospital sites at Milford, Haslemere and Cranleigh. We provide adult community health services in homes across Guildford and Waverley.

We have received an overall Good rating from the CQC with Medical care (including older peoples care), End of Life Care and Maternity services being deemed Outstanding by the CQC.

Royal Surrey has a strong reputation and history to build on. We are proud of our achievements and we are investing in our colleagues through our commitment to supporting professional development as well as investing more than £45 million in our physical environment and new equipment in the next few years. There has never been a better time to join us.

Although it isn't the Trusts normal practice, adverts may close early, so you are encouraged to submit an application as soon as possible.
