Job overview
We are looking to recruit a clinically competent audiologist with considerable experience in Vestibular Diagnostic Audiology to lead specialised clinics. They will be the lead on the development of Vestibular Diagnostic services in the department and also provide vestibular treatment sessions.
The post holder will play a key role in supporting and training junior staff on vestibular diagnostic Audiology and provide supervision, training and advice to junior staff and students within the department. They will closely liaise with other specialities and professionals.
In addition the post holder will work closely with Audiology senior staff to continuously improve service delivery and will take responsibility for individual personal development of junior staff.
We currently offer services across Surrey and Hampshire. This post is based in Guildford although you may be required to travel to outreach clinics on occasion and take part in the domiciliary visits rota.
The post-holder will provide routine and specialist clinical services to adults and work within a multi-disciplinary team.
We welcome both part-time and full-time applications.
Please note this role may involve 7-day a week working to support the service. Core hours of service are 9am - 5pm. Flexible working patterns can be discussed at interview.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will be responsible for the provision of Vestibular Diagnostic Audiology services, training and service development, in close working with the Clinical Service Leads and Head of Department.
The post holder will be expected to take forward the modernisation of the service and to develop innovative and patient focused models of care.
This will cover the maintenance of demonstrably high professional standards in respect of:
• The scientific, technical, therapeutic, rehabilitation and clinical activity of the Vestibular Audiology service
• Patient care
• The effective and efficient use of resources and the management of workload
• The provision of professional advice consistent with the responsibilities and expertise of the department
• Service development
• Teaching and training of junior staff

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
The post holder will be responsible for providing routine and specialist clinical services, primarily in Vestibular Diagnostic Audiology for both adults and children with vestibular conditions; Physiological measurement clinics and routine services in adult audiology. The post holder will have a key role in providing training to HTS, BSc students and members of staff, as well as leading the service development for Vestibular Services.
The post holder will deputise for the Deputy Heads of Department when necessary.
The post holder will work closely with the Clinical Service Leads and in collaboration with key personnel in the Trust. The post holder will develop close working relationships with the clinical teams in ENT, Audiological Medicine, Physiotherapy and Psychology
Person specification
Qualifications
Essential criteria
- MSc in Audiology or equivalent experience
- Be a member of an appropriate professional body (AHCS - Healthcare Scientist or HCPC - Clinical Scientist)
- A certificate of Audiological Competence or equivalent HTS Modules
Skills
Essential criteria
- Excellent clinical skills in Audiological practice
- Able to work as part of a team
- Adaptability, flexibility and ability to cope with uncertainty
Desirable criteria
- Experience in service development
