Locum Consultant in Breast Surgery

Locum Consultant

Job overview

We are currently recruiting for a 10PA Locum Consultant in Breast Surgery for a fixed period of 6 months (from start date) to cover a period of absence.

The post has been created to ensure the high quality provision of oncoplastic services at the Royal Surrey, which will include supporting cancer diagnostic and treatment pathways, as well as supporting the perforator flap service within the department.

The role will involve undertaking both general theatre and outpatient clinics at the Royal Surrey, as well as specialised clinics (including supporting the regional gene carrier service) and providing oncological input to the autologous reconstruction service at Queen Victoria Hospital.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will support the department to deliver the outstanding care we strive to achieve including achieving bench marked cancer wait times, GIRFT metrics, the Surrey and Sussex Cancer Alliance MDT QA targets and patient reported outcomes in the National Cancer Experience Survey.

Support will be given to contribute to ongoing service improvement projects and to broaden the department’s involvement in research activity, both NIHR portfolio studies and locally set up and delivered studies. Mentoring and peer support will be available for any new colleague as they settle into their role within the department.

There is no expectation for the successful candidate to support the General Surgical On Call.
