Trust Doctor in Emergency Medicine (ST1/2)

ST1-2

Job overview

We are looking for enthusiastic doctors who have successfully completed Foundation Year 2 training to take up this 12-month post in Emergency Medicine.

It is an exciting time to join our team as we have recently redeveloped our Emergency Department and have implemented a wide range of new processes and pathways.  We are now expanding our workforce to offer additional opportunities to motivated and engaged doctors who wish to develop themselves and the department.  We offer exceptional training opportunities in point of care ultrasound (POCUS) with two hours of dedicated teaching every week day!  There is also considerable scope for successful candidates to be involved in service re-design, simulation and quality improvement projects.  We have recently received awards and recognition for two projects at trust level.  In the past year, a number of our trust grade doctors have been promoted to the next tier and three of our middle grades have been promoted to consultant level.  Engaged and motivated candidates will find themselves at home in a culture of aspiration and excellence!

Main duties of the job

  • To review and appropriately manage undifferentiated medical patients presenting to the Ambulatory Emergency Care Unit, with senior support as required.
  • To complete clinical notes contemporaneously, and to adequately record decision making on the computerised records system, including the x-ray reporting system.
  • To react positively to changes in planned workload when unforeseen interruptions occur and to plan tasks and activities accordingly.
  • To prioritise workload demonstrating a methodical and well-organised approach.
  • To ensure patient confidentiality is adhered to at all times and escalate ny barriers leading to delays in patient management or referral.
  • To ensure that all Trust standards are maintained to maintain a high quality of care to all who come into contact with the services provided by Royal Surrey Hospital NHS Foundation Trust
  • This job description is subject to review at any time in consultation with the post holder.
