Employer heading
Specialty Doctor in Emergency Medicine
MC75
Job overview
We are seeking enthusiastic Specialty Doctors in Emergency Medicine to join the existing ED team FOR 10 PAs per week. It is an exciting time to join our team as the new ED has recently opened; the £8M redevelopment plan has delivered a bigger footprint and new Paediatric, Major and CDU areas. There is considerable scope for the successful candidates to be involved in service re-design and quality improvement projects, shaping the Departments future development and improvement of patient care.
The department has a CESR program which includes regular teaching and rotations to ITU and Anaesthesia. Our middle grades are selected with the long-term view of career development and retention. This creates an up-skilled, motivated and progressive middle grade work force.
The department’s many attributes include regional accreditation as a Trauma Unit, established as regional point of care ultrasound (POCUS) training centre with daily teaching run by accredited trainers. We also boast multi professional simulation sessions and dedicated teaching in addition to our unique CESR program.
Interested applicants are invited to contact our Recruitment Lead Dr Pankaj Gurung via the hospital switchboard 01483 521122.
Main duties of the job
The primary duties of the post are to see new patients within the ED, and to be an on-site source of advice, help and supervision for more junior doctors in the ED. This is a senior post and specialty doctors will be the doctor in charge of the department at night with a consultant on call from home after midnight.
The successful candidate will be working on the Middle Grade rota (see attached) and accountable to the EM ConsultantsWe expect for the candidate to have good leadership skills, ability to manage the Department, including flow through the ED.
The successful candidate will have a dedicated mentor (supervisor) and 1 SPA (pro rata) for training, CPDs and quality improvement projects, plus budgeted study leave days
Please refer to the full job description attached for further details of duties.
