Job overview
This post is a Locum Consultant Obstetrician & Gynaecologist who will work across Obstetrics and Gynaecology for a fixed term period of 12 months.
The post holder will join the existing team of fifteen consultants based at the Royal Surrey Foundation Trust, Guildford.
The main aim of this post is to support an increase in activity across the department
Main duties of the job
Duties will be flexible depending on the skills of the applicant.
Core duties will be gynaecology clinics, on-call activity and elective gynaecology and caesarean section lists.
The consultant will participate in departmental meetings, contribute to training, risk management and incident and policy reviews. It is expected that the post holder will have knowledge of root cause analysis, and participate in clinical governance.

Qualifications
Essential criteria
- Full registration and a license to practice with the GMC
- MBBS or equivalent
- Evidence of training, experience and independent practice in Obstetrics, General Gynaecology
- Provider status in ATLS/APLS/ALS or equivalent, or willingness to obtain within 6 months of interview date
- Obstetric ATSM including Obstetric Medicine, High Risk Pregnancy
Desirable criteria
- Entry on the GMC Specialist Register for O&G (or relevant specialty) via CCT (CCT date must be within 6 months of the interview date) or Portfolio Pathway
- Instructor status in ATLS/APLS/EPLS/ALS or equivalent
- Educational Supervisor qualification
Experience
Essential criteria
- Significant evidence of experience in clinical leadership
- Evidence of experience in management of Labour Ward and ability to independently manage obstetric emergencies
- Evidence of broad training in both Obstetrics and Gynaecology
- Able to manage antenatal women with complex problems
- Perform appropriate surgery for emergency Gynaecology
- Independently manage women with early pregnancy complications
- NHS Experience
Desirable criteria
- Experience of multidisciplinary team working
- Evidence of initiating change through the audit process
- Evidence of participation in SUI and PMRT review process
Knowledge
Essential criteria
- Knowledge of NHS practices
- Knowledge and understanding of CTG interpretation
