Job overview

We are pleased to advertise this exciting Paediatric Clinical Teaching Fellow post for the academic year 2026-2027.

It is an excellent opportunity for a current or aspiring paediatric trainee looking to gain out of programme experience in Medical Education in a welcoming and supportive environment.

 

Main duties of the job

It is a 12-month fixed term post commencing on 7 September 2026 and will involve 0.6 WTE as a Paediatric Clinical Teaching Fellow and 0.4 WTE working clinically in the paediatric department at SHO or middle grade level depending on the successful applicant’s previous clinical experience.

The postholder will be encouraged to undertake a funded Postgraduate Certificate in Medical Education and must have a licence to practice from the GMC as well as experience delivering undergraduate medical education.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Full GMC registration and licence to practise
  • Recognised basic medical degree
  • Successful completion (by post start date) of foundation scheme or demonstration of equivalent competencies
Desirable criteria
  • MRCPCH
  • Evidence of additional training in medical education
  • APLS provider
  • NLS provider
  • Level 3 Children’s Safeguarding training

Experience

Essential criteria
  • NHS experience
  • Previous experience of teaching medical students and/or other clinical students
  • Evidence of previous paediatric clinical experience
Desirable criteria
  • Evidence of competencies to work at paediatric ST4 level including significant tertiary neonatal experience, and relevant clinical procedure skills for both paediatrics and neonatology
  • Training and experience in the assessment of children suspected to have suffered child abuse
