The Royal Surrey Cancer Centre is focused on providing excellent patient pathways and patient-centred care. We strive to continuously evolve to reflect the technical advances within Radiotherapy. 

 The centre is based in Guildford with a satellite site at the East Surrey Hospital in Redhill. Guildford gives easy access to the beautiful North & South Downs Way, is an hour from the coast and has great transport links to the surrounding counties of Berkshire, Hampshire and Sussex.   The city offers cultural diversity, is home to the University of Surrey and it is great place to reside and explore.

This role is to support the therapy radiographers in the delivery of quality and individualised care to patients undergoing radiotherapy and to assist the radiographers with the tasks required to ensure a good patient experience.   You will be required to provide both clinical and administrative support.   when attending the radiotherapy department.

If you do not hold the Trust’s Care Certificate it will be essential that you attend 3 weeks training to achieve the Care Certificate which is a requirement for this role. Other training related to the post will be provided e.g. venepuncture and assisting in theatre. You will also need to attend the Trust’s mandatory training.

As a radiotherapy clinical support worker, you will be under the direct supervision of the Radiotherapy Operational Managers but will be required to liaise with the other key members of the pre-treatment, treatment, brachytherapy and review teams.

A key element of the role is to assist the therapeutic radiographers in the delivery of quality and individualised care to patients undergoing radiotherapy and to assist the radiographers with the tasks required to ensure a good patient experience. The post holder will be required to provide both clinical and administrative support. 

The Radiotherapy Department is based at the Royal Surrey County Hospital in Guildford and operates a satellite service from the East Surrey Hospital in Redhill. This post is based at the Royal Surrey County Hospital, with some rotation to the East Surrey Hospital in Redhill.

  • GC(S)E/equivalent English Language and Mathematics Grade C or above
  • Evidence of continued role development

  • NVQ4 or NVQ3 plus additional training to diploma level equivalent, or equivalent through short courses
