Job overview

We are looking to recruit a Consultant Physician in Respratory medicine, for a fixed term period of 12 months.

The posts are advertised as full time; however we are very welcoming of applicants wishing to work less than full time. The hospital and department are incredibly family friendly and are open to discussions about flexible working.

The appointed applicant will work within the existing multidisciplinary team, and will be encouraged to develop a sub specialist interest. The department is very supportive of this, and will additionally support applicants looking to develop in areas outside of direct clinical care.

Candidates with an interest in research, and / or medical education would be welcomed. Equally, candidates with an interest in medical leadership, and in service development / reconfiguration would be especially welcomed.

Main duties of the job

The postholder will be responsible for providing the full breadth of respiratory duties (inpatient, outpatient, specialty referral and diagnostic), in addition to participation on the general medicine on-call rota. 

Additionally, you will be expended to:

  • Attending multidisciplinary team meetings;
  • Work with the Integrated Respiratory Service;
  • Contribute to education and training of other staff;
  • Contribute to the respiratory service development, meeting the needs of our patients and the strategic aims of the Trust.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

We are pleased to invite applications for a fixed-term Consultant Respiratory Physician post, created to support and further the growth of our inpatient and outpatient services.

Upon successful recruitment, our consultant respiratory team will expand to seven members, strengthening our capacity to deliver high-quality, patient-centred care.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Entry on the GMC Specialist Register for Respiratory Medicine and General Internal Medicine
  • Full GMC Registration with licence to practise
  • MRCP or Equivalent
Desirable criteria
  • Teaching/Education Qualification
  • Higher Degree eg MD, PhD or equivalent
  • Out of Programme management experience

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Wide experience of Respiratory Medicine
  • Wide experience of General Internal medicine including multi-disciplinary working
  • Relevant experience of management of medical emergencies
Desirable criteria
  • Subspecialty interest and experience in an associated Respiratory medical speciality
