This is a fixed-term 8 PA post for a Locum Consultant Clinical Oncologist, with a specialist interest in Urological Tumours along with SABR and Brachytherapy techniques. This post has an immediate start and is fixed term until mid July 2026.

The post is based at the Royal Surrey Hospital, Guildford with weekly attendance to East Surrey Hospital, Redhill.

The Royal Surrey Cancer Centre provides specialist Cancer and Haemato-Oncological care, including complex cancer surgery, to a catchment area of approximately 1.4 million people in South West Surrey and Hampshire. Non-surgical oncological treatment for these patients is provided at the Royal Surrey Cancer Centre, which is an integral part of the Trust. We have recently opened our newly refurbished Cancer Centre, and are delighted to offer a modern and welcoming environment for patients. We are proud to work collaboratively with local and regional cancer units and the Surrey Clinical Research Facility.

Main duties of the job

The successful candidate will provide expertise in the management and treatment of patients with Urological tumours. This includes offering Chemotherapy, systemic therapy, and Radiotherapy (including Stereotactic). This role offers the opportunity to join a dynamic team providing exceptional cancer care in a modern, state-of-the-art facility.

The post holder will provide the oncology service for the patients in the catchment of our outreach partner- Surrey and Sussex Hospital.

We are looking for someone who is highly organised, can demonstrate expertise in the management of Urological tumours, have a strong commitment to providing high-quality patient care and continuous professional development and have excellent teamwork and communication skills.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

To provide Oncology expertise in the management and treatment of patients with Urological Tumours. To be part of the MDT and clinical team

To be part of the radiotherapy MDT and clinical team

To fully participate in the Clinical and where appropriate Educational Supervision of trainees.

To play a full part in the professional supervision and management of junior medical staff.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Full registration and a license to practice with the GMC
  • On the GMC Specialist Register or demonstrate equivalent competencies
Desirable criteria
  • Teaching qualification
  • Higher degree

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Relevant experience of managing oncological emergencies
  • Experience in a variety of tumour sites
  • Recent experience of Oncology care
  • Active interest in research and commitement to clinical innovation
Desirable criteria
  • Ability to plan SABR treatments independently
  • Experienced in HDR practice
