We are delighted to offer an exciting opportunity for a passionate and driven Registered Nurse to join our well-established Clinical Education team at Surrey and Borders Partnership NHS Foundation Trust as a Clinical Practice Educator – Clinical Placements.
This role with focus on promotion and recruitment of nursing/nursing associate apprentices and coordinating T-Level healthcare placements.
The successful candidate will actively foster a supportive and enriching learning environment for nursing, nursing associate, T-Level students, and apprentices, ensuring they gain maximum benefit from all available learning opportunities.
The T-Level placement programme plays a vital role in strengthening the future pipeline for Healthcare Support Worker recruitment and retention, while the nursing and nursing associate apprenticeships contribute significantly to building a sustainable nursing workforce.
Main duties of the job
To support the recruitment of nursing/nursing associate apprentices and act as a professional role model during their training.
To positively influence the quality of the learning environment by providing support, supervision, educational and professional development opportunities to healthcare support workers within the clinical setting.
To develop and implement a T-Level Health Student placement programme in practice settings, in collaboration with local schools, colleges, the Surrey Heartlands Integrated Care System and other agencies as required.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
Key Responsibilities
Nursing Apprenticeships Responsibilities
• Work with the Clinical Education team to provide support to students/apprentices.
• Work clinically alongside students, supporting them with putting theory into practice.
• Produce reports as required relating to students, analyse and act on reports from education providers.
• Lead on the recruitment of apprentices/students.
• Support a culture of reflective practice.
• Design and deliver effective bitesize training to support students/apprentices in practice settings.
• Support training provided by the Clinical Education Team.
• Collaborate with Education providers in the delivery of educational programmes to meet specific training needs for students/apprentices.
• Lead and support with induction for students/apprentices.
• Network and establish links with other Clinical Educators and Learning Environment Leads across the system in order to benchmark current practice and aid own and colleagues’ professional development.
• Support the implementation of practice changes in response to identified risk issues.
• Evaluate and assess own learning and development needs and seek relevant training opportunities.
• Work with students/apprentices within the clinical settings to support their practice-based learning and motivating them to realise their potential utilising existing and available resources.
• Promote evidence-based practice through education and clinical support.
• Adhere to the trusts policies and procedures and national guidance.
• Represent the Department at committees and meetings (internal and external).
• Maintain effective working relationships with Senior Staff within clinical learning environments.
• Support with investigations and conduct issues related to students/apprentices.
• Work with the education team and Trust wide to embed the nursing associate role in SABP.
• Provide support forums and attend relevant meetings with internal/external stakeholders.
• Act as a role model to nursing apprentice students.
T-Level Placement Responsibilities
• Develop and implement a placement scheme for T-Level students to support their learning in practice.
• Create a structured and supportive environment for T-Level students, ensuring they have a valuable and safe learning experience
• Implementing and maintaining systems, as guided by Education Providers, to support compliance (e.g. DBS Checks, Occupational Health checks, Health and Safety, safeguarding).
• Lead on the onboarding and induction process for students.
• Providing support, supervision and guiding students with their learning objectives.
• Build and maintain relationships with education providers, integrated care system and Trust services to identify and secure suitable placements.
• Contributing to discussions with Education Providers regarding areas of concern in relation to student competence and performance on placement.
• Provide guidance and support to line managers throughout the placement process.
• Ensure placements meet quality standards and learning objectives set by education providers and the government.
• Provide students with high-quality learning experience and support education providers in assessing students on placement.
• Monitor and evaluate placement progress and outcomes.
• Collect and provide student feedback to assess effectiveness and identify improvement areas.
• Collaborate with the Widening Participation Team to provide reports to the Surrey Heartlands Integrated Care Board and NHS England.
• Collaborate with the Trust Resourcing and Widening Participation Team to provide Careers information, advice and guidance to students and their education providers.
• Keep up to date with information, advice and guidance relating to T-Level programmes for the 16-19 age group e.g. their curriculums and awarding organisations, teaching trends etc.
• Support T-Level Health Students to gain exposure and link their theory to practice.
• Act as a role model to T-Level Students.

Qualifications
Essential criteria
- Professional healthcare / clinical qualification and current NMC registration
- Degree level qualification or equivalent or working towards
- Recognised learner support qualification (e.g. PS/PA or mentorship)
Experience
Essential criteria
- Previous experience of working in an NHS setting
- Post qualification experience in a clinical setting
- Experience of planning, designing and delivering training programmes
- Experience of monitoring and supporting practice-based learning
- Experience of monitoring audits to maintain and promote quality
