Job overview

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Highly Specialist Dietitian – Front Door to join our Nutrition and Dietetic team at East Surrey Hospital. This is a new opportunity to lead and develop dietetic services across the Trust’s Front Door areas, including the Emergency Department, Acute Medical Unit, Same Day Emergency Care and Frailty services, supporting timely, effective nutritional care for patients on admission.

You will work as an autonomous, highly specialist dietitian, managing a complex caseload and providing expert nutritional assessment and intervention, including enteral and parenteral nutrition. The role also includes contributing to service development, audit and quality improvement activity, and supporting the operational and strategic planning of the Front Door dietetic service.

As a senior member of the team, you will provide leadership, supervision and education to dietitians, dietetic assistants and students, and work closely with multidisciplinary colleagues across medical, nursing, therapy, catering and pharmacy teams. You will also contribute to dietetic leadership across Front Door, Stroke, Care of the Elderly and Oncology services as part of the Dietetic Medical Team.

Main duties of the job

  • Lead and deliver a highly specialist dietetic service across Front Door areas, including ED, AMU, SAU, SDEC and Frailty services, providing timely and effective nutritional care.
  • Manage a complex clinical caseload as an autonomous practitioner, including patients requiring clinically assisted nutrition.
  • Provide leadership, supervision and education for dietitians, dietetic assistants and student dietitians, supporting the development of safe, high‑quality practice.
  • Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams to support coordinated patient care, effective communication 
    ongoing patient management.
  • Contribute to service development, audit, quality improvement activity and the operational planning of the Front Door and Medical Dietetic service.
