Job overview

We are excited to invite applications for the role of Health and Safety / Manual Handling Advisor within our dynamic Health & Safety Department.

As a vital member of the Occupational Health and Safety Team, you will play a key role in supporting the Trust’s commitment to outstanding safety standards and achieving our strategic goals. Your expertise will help enhance our reputation for delivering a safe and supportive environment for staff and patients alike.

The ideal candidate will have a solid understanding of health and safety and manual handling protocols within an NHS hospital setting, though relevant training will be provided to ensure your continued professional development.

There is a full time position available at Wexham and there is a part time role available at Frimley Park Hospital. Flexibility to travel across various Trust sites is essential to meet the diverse needs of our organisation.

Main duties of the job

You will be required to provide training to clinical and non-clinical staff at all levels; therefore, you must have excellent training skills, and the ability to develop and present a wide range of health and safety and manual handling courses.  You will also be expected to answer enquiries and provide proactive advice on health and safety and manual handling matters.

You will assist in the presentation and development of departmental reports, policies, guidance notes, advice leaflets, the intranet site, and e-learning courses.

Skills & Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • A knowledge of legislation relating to Manual Handling and of its effects on practice in the workplace.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent presentation skills with the ability to develop, present and deliver training courses in key areas of Manual Handling
Desirable criteria
  • Understanding of H&S issues in the NHS.
  • Knowledge of Manual Handling requirements within the NHS.

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Experience of working within the NHS.
  • Experience of working within a team.
Desirable criteria
  • Training role in Back Care (1 year)
  • Ability to manage conflict.
