Job overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Medicine Directorate for a Elective and Diagnostic Bookings Team Leader to support the opening of the new Community Diagnostic Centre (CDC) at Upton Hospital.

This is a permanent, full-time position primarily based at Upton Hospital, however the post holder, on occasion, may be required to work cross site
at Wexham Park Hospital as and when required to meet service demands.

We are looking for an approachable, motivated, and patient-focused individual who embodies our Trust values and is committed to delivering an exceptional standard of service to both patients and colleagues.

This is a busy and fast-paced role that demands excellent organisational and multitasking abilities, along with the capacity to remain calm and
effective under pressure.

You will play a vital role in coordinating elective and diagnostic appointments, ensuring patient pathways are managed
smoothly, efficiently, and in line with service requirements.

Strong communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively are essential. 

Main duties of the job

The post holder will work as the Team Leader for the Waiting List team and be responsible for providing excellent customer service and contributing proactive information to support the waiting list team.

They will assist in day to day running of the waiting list, supporting the Patient Pathway Co-ordinator and deputising in their absence.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • A levels / NVQ Business Administration Level 3 or equivalent experience
Desirable criteria
  • ECDL /Computer Skills certification or equivalent IT and keyboard skills

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Extensive administration experience
  • Computer literate - experience of using Microsoft Office / Outlook/Excel and hospital IT systems
  • Experience of working to deadlines, setting priorities and dealing with a varied workload
Desirable criteria
  • Experience of line management in a busy administrative environment
  • NHS experience

Skills and Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Strong organizational skills to manage workloads, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines
  • Ability to work under pressure
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Understanding Clinical Governance, patient safety, confidentiality, and upholding NHS values.
Desirable criteria
  • Knowledge of clinical pathways including 18 weeks RTT.
  • Knowledge of NHS waiting list management
