Job overview
We are looking for a Locum Appointment for Service to work in the Histopathology Department at Frimley Health Foundation Trust, Wexham Park Hospital. The post is available from August 2023 and it is a one-year (renewable) contract. The post holder will be expected to participate in specimen dissection, surgical and cytological reporting under consultant supervision. An integrated educational programme will be a recognised part of the post. The training programme is designed to fulfil the requirements of the Royal College of Pathologists.
Main duties of the job
Participate on the rolling training rota.
The appointees’ prime duties, in conjunction with the other Specialty trainees, will be
the provision of a comprehensive and high quality histopathology, autopsy and
cytology service to the Trust, under the supervision of the Consultant staff.
Duties and responsibilities:
Dissection and macroscopic description
Selection of tissue samples for processing
Primary diagnostic evaluation and reporting
Discussion of and sign out of cases with supervising consultants
Preparing cases for clinico-pathological meetings
Attendance at meetings and training sessions

- At least 12 months training in Histopathology and Cytopathology
Skills and knowledge

- Ability to communicate effectively with clinical and other colleagues
- Evidence of good multi disciplinary and multi-professional team working
- Initiative, enthusiasm and drive
- Evidence of active involvement in audit.
- Able to organise oneself and prioritise clinical workload.

You must have appropriate UK professional registration.
