We are seeking an enthusiastic, forward‑thinking, and highly motivated Clinical Pharmacist to lead our Surgery and Anaesthetics pharmacy team at Frimley Health NHS Foundation Trust (FHFT). This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced pharmacist to shape, influence, and advance clinical pharmacy services across a key specialty area.
As the lead pharmacist for Surgery & Anaesthetics, you will provide professional pharmacy leadership across the Surgical and TACC Division at all FHFT sites. Working closely with multidisciplinary colleagues, you will ensure high‑quality, patient‑centred pharmacy services are consistently delivered and further developed across the Trust.
The post holder will be a key contributor to the strategic direction of the department, both within FHFT and within the wider Integrated Care System (ICS). You will have the opportunity to innovate, lead service improvements, and support the development of advanced clinical practice across the pharmacy workforce.

- Lead and develop the clinical pharmacy service for all Surgery & Anaesthetic areas across the Trust.
- Oversee and coordinate the day‑to‑day delivery of pharmacy clinical services within specialist surgical and peri‑operative areas.
- Support the training, supervision, and progression of pharmacist independent prescribers.
- Act as a role model for excellence in clinical pharmacy practice, ensuring services align with departmental and Trust-wide objectives.
Lead the recruitment, line management, and ongoing professional development of staff within your team.

The Pharmacy department is a forward-thinking department that has introduced the Epic EPR system. Clinical pharmacists have the opportunity to work as prescribers at the top of their licence- we provide a number of clinics, from Heart Failure and Hyperthyroidism to Rheumatology and CF across our sites.
The team also provide services to community wards, two adult and one paediatric hospice.

To support the Clinical Pharmacy Manager with the day to day running of the pharmacy services to the Surgical & Anaesthetic teams across FHFT.
To support the management, planning and delivery of Pharmacy services at all sites, including Heatherwood. This will include at least one day a week at the two main sites.
To work closely with the Clinical Pharmacist Manager, clinicians and senior managers to develop pharmaceutical services to Surgical & Anaesthetics across the Trust at all sites.
To promote and develop the use of Independent Prescribing by pharmacists in the delivery of care to Surgery across the Trust
To promote and develop the compiling of pharmacy financial reports and horizon scanning for the directorate across the Trust
Provide a clinical pharmacy service to a clinical area and a clinical pharmacy service to cover other areas when ward cover is needed.
To provide strategic clinical pharmacy input into medication error reduction processes within the Trust.
To liaise closely with the Clinical Pharmacy Manager to ensure appropriate actions are taken to comply with Patient Safety Alerts, National Institute of Clinical Excellence (NICE), or successor organisations, guidance and Care Quality Commission (CQC) assessments.
To work with clinicians and nurses to develop, implement and monitor the use of protocols and guidelines within the specialist area.
To ensure that drugs utilised within the specialist areas reflect the recommendations, the policies and formulary of Frimley Health NHSFT. To increase economic awareness within the specialist areas through monthly directorate financial reports and to advise on cost effective prescribing.

Experience

- Broad experience in hospital clinical pharmacy
- Experience in the provision of clinical pharmacy to acute care patients.
- Protocol development.
- Practical experience of audit
- Experience of training others
- Ability to recognise areas for development of current practice.

- Management of staff including recruitment, appraisal.
