Pelvic Health Assistant Practitioner

Would you like to work with women through pregnancy and post birth, to support them to look after their physical health?
Have you worked in maternity care, physiotherapy or the fitness sector before?
This exciting band 4 Pelvic Health Physiotherapy Assistant Practitioner role is based at Wexham Park Hospital. As well as working as part of the Physiotherapy team you will work closely alongside the Maternity inpatient and community teams. Each day you will be working on the maternity wards supporting women post birth with advice and exercises to aid their recovery. You will also be responsible for delivering antenatal and postnatal workshops in different locations around the local area, for this being a car driver is essential. The workshops support women in pregnancy and post birth in looking after their physical health, specifically focussing on their pelvic floor and core muscles.
This varied role will also involve supporting the Pelvic Health Physiotherapy team with the rehabilitation of their outpatient and inpatient caseload, teaching pelvic floor and core exercises in a group and on an individual basis.
As this role involves presenting information to patients, for the interview, we will ask you to prepare a 5 minute presentation in advance - How can we motivate others to have a healthy BMI (body mass index)?

- To work under the indirect supervision of a physiotherapist to provide a high standard physiotherapy service to pregnant or post natal women in a variety of settings. This may include on the post natal wards, in physiotherapy clinics, in community settings or maternity hubs.
- This role involves educating women about their pelvic floor during pregnancy and after birth in group and 1:1 sessions.
- Reviewing women post birth on the post natal ward to advise and aid their recovery.
- A number of our sessions are held in community settings and so it is essential that the post holder is able to drive to access these locations.

- GCSE or equivalent in Maths and English
- NVQ L3 or equivalent

- Qualifications relating to knowledge of anatomy/ physiology or maternity care
Experience

- Experience as a Band 3 Physiotherapy assistant
- Experience as a Band 2 or 3 Maternity support worker
- Experience as a fitness sector professional or equivalent
