NHS Medical & Dental: Locum Consultant

Trosolwg o'r swydd

We are looking to appoint an enthusiastic and motivated Consultant Urologist to join our established team on a 6 months fixed-term locum basis.

This post has been created in response to increased clinical activity and rising service demand across the specialty.

The successful applicant will support the existing Consultant workforce in delivering high-quality urological care across both elective and emergency pathways.

The role will contribute to maintaining service performance, patient access and waiting list recovery within a busy District General Hospital environment.

Outpatients

The post holder will independently deliver outpatient services, with a primary focus on General Urology and Endourology. Clinical sessions will principally be based at Heatherwood Hospital, although the successful applicant may be required to provide services across Wexham Park Hospital and other Trust locations to support operational and patient care requirements.

The stone service uses a acute virtual clinic and MDT to review patients, discuss complex presentations and optimise theatre list planning and utilisation. There is an excellent onsite lithotripsy service at Heatherwood and have a supportive interventional radiology service.

There may be a requirement to support the prostate cancer pathway with LA transperineal prostate biopsies.

 Theatres

The post holder will independently perform a range of core and endourology procedures. The focus will be supporting the emergency and elective treatment of stone patients: rigid and flexible ureteroscopy/FANS and stent exchange. The role will involve operating within established clinical governance frameworks and contributing to the efficient utilisation of theatre capacity.

Theatre sessions are generally scheduled as either full-day operating lists (07:30 to 19:30) or as dedicated AM and PM sessions, subject to operational requirements.
