Job overview

We are seeking a skilled and motivated Estates Engineer to join our team, delivering both reactive and planned maintenance across Wexham Park Hospital and the Slough Community Diagnostic Centre. This is a varied, hands-on role that plays a vital part in keeping essential healthcare facilities safe, compliant, and fully operational. The post-holder will also participate in the Trust’s out-of-hours emergency on-call rota.

Main duties of the job

  • Carry out planned and reactive maintenance, repairs, minor improvement works and capital projects across the Trust, in line with management direction.

  • Ensure all work is completed in full compliance with Trust safety standards, statutory regulations, and agreed procedures.

  • Undertake complex and non-routine engineering tasks, using initiative and technical expertise to diagnose and resolve issues effectively.

  • Calibrate, maintain and fault-find on a wide range of engineering plant and equipment, including:

    • Low Pressure Hot Water (LPHW) systems

    • General air conditioning controls and systems

    • Steam raising plant and associated equipment

    • Steam steriliser systems

  • Work a standard shift pattern and actively contribute to the out-of-hours emergency on-call rota, supporting essential services when needed.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • City & Guilds qualification or NVQ equivalent
  • Experience in the maintenance of mechanical plant and services
  • • Experience of working on TMV’s, Air Handling units, Pumps, Motors and General Plumbing inc Tap installations
Desirable criteria
  • • NVQ Level 3 Mechanical
  • A‑Level Maths

Experiance

Essential criteria
  • working in a large organisation
  • Experience in the maintenance of mechanical plant and services
Desirable criteria
  • Previous experiance working in a Hospital Enviroment
  • Knowledge of HTM's
  • Previous experience of mechanical systems, in particular: - ventilation systems, air conditioning systems, water systems (cold/hot water) Experience of low temperature hot water heating systems

Communication

Essential criteria
  • GCSE Maths – Grade 4 (C) or above, GCSE English Language – Grade 4 (C) or above
  • To have good IT skills and be proficient with computers
Desirable criteria
  • A Level Maths
