An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Chest Clinic Outpatient team based at the  at King Edward VII hospital, Windsor, which is part of Frimley Health NHS Foundation Trust. Windsor is rich in cultural heritage with beautiful architecture and is just 30 miles west of London with excellent transport links.

  • FeNo
  • Vital Sign Monitoring
  • Care Certificate Course (if not already completed) 

We are looking for people who are enthusiastic about improving patient care and who are willing to go the extra mile to ensure our patients receive the highest quality care.

You will be joining a proactive and supportive team who work closely with the Respiratory Consultants and team and pride themselves on their high quality care.

Previous Healthcare Assistant experience is not essential as training will be provided.

Shifts are flexible subject to discussion at interview

Main duties of the job

You will be an enthusiastic, friendly, reliable and hardworking individual who is passionate about patient care. You will be primarily assisting the nursing team with care of the patients and will facilitate the smooth running of the ward. Respiratory care also plays a big part of your role and additional training is available. You need to be driven and prepared to deliver high quality care and attention to detail at all times.

This vacancy is linked to a Level 2 Apprenticeship. This will support you to gain relevant knowledge, skills and experience that will help you achieve your potential in this role. Working alongside the Trust’s experienced staff you will be supported to gain the apprenticeship qualification and functional skills in Maths and English if required. This is a great opportunity to gain a national recognised qualification while you are working and earning, which will support you in both this role and in your future career at Frimley Health.  

You will not be required to undertake an apprenticeship if you have previously completed a relevant apprenticeship, NVQ or similar qualification.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

  • Participate in the nursing care of patients under the direction and supervision of a Registered Nurse and raise issues of concern to a qualified nurse.
  • Assist in the smooth running of clinic session, ensuring the patient is prepared for clinic i.e. weight, height, pulse oximetry, prompt delivery of note to Doctor, escort patient to consulting room.
  • Assist the Department staff in keeping the environment clean and tidy.
  • Always maintain respect and confidentiality.
  • Maintain clear and accurate documentation under the supervision of a registered nurse, raising issues of concern with a qualified nurse where appropriate.
  • Communicate effectively and liaise with all health care staff as appropriate.
  • To encourage and maintain good relationships with Medical Staff and other members of the Chest clinic team including Administration/Reception staff, Medical Secretaries Clinical Nurses Specialist Physiotherapists and Physiologists to provide the best care.
  • To participate in quality Assurance initiatives within the unit.
  • To complete and record investigations and observations as appropriate, reporting any abnormalities to a trained nurse and to the Clinician.
  • Pro-actively respond to potential complaints, to prevent formal complaints from occurring.
  • Chaperon patients as required e.g. when Physical examination required.
