We are currently recruiting a number of Band 5 Occupational Therapists so if you are graduating soon apply for this exciting rotation now! 

The Band 5 rotation offers 40 different placements across a wide variety of specialties, including in-patient, community, physical, adult mental health, older person's mental health, paediatrics, forensic mental health, burns & plastics, stroke, orthopaedics, oncology and palliative care. 

We provide a commitment to training and education, including preceptorship, post-graduate study, and leadership programmes, ensure the future of Occupational Therapy within the Health Board is strong and exciting. You will be required to work flexibly to meet the needs of the service, including a 7 day shift pattern, with extended working hours covering 365days of the year.  

Due to the large geographical area that the health board covers it is an expectation of the role that you will be able to travel across sites to clients homes and community settings in a timely manner where required. 

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.  

Main duties of the job

To manage a defined caseload, using evidence based /client centred principles to assess, plan, implement and evaluate interventions where appropriate; hospital, community, patients homes, schools, outpatient settings and maintaining associated records. To organise this efficiently and effectively with regard to clinical priorities and use of time. 
To ensure clinical records are kept to agreed standards and report accurately to others. 

To work in partnership with clients, carers and all stake holders including the multidisciplinary/ multi-agency team to identify relevant goals. 
To develop skills and knowledge through participation in the Preceptorship Programme and the Band 5 development and competency framework 

To gain experience through participation in rotational scheme

Occupational Therapy provides services across the SBUHB locality, including specialist services that also stretch to Bridgend and Cardiff, in addition to the provision of regional services that cover the whole of south west Wales. Occupational Therapy services in SBUHB have developed early intervention and preventative services within the community and primary care and have strong links with partner organisations such as local authority, education and third sector.  

 

Along with a variety of cultural opportunities in the region, such as the new Swansea Arena, the Health Board is located close to some beautiful beaches so if surfing is your passion you won’t have far to go!  If you enjoy mountain biking we are close to the Afan Forest Park and for walkers, there are coastal paths in the Gower Peninsula and mountain walks in the Brecon Beacons. Swansea Bay UHB covers a population of around 390,000 in the Neath Port Talbot and Swansea areas and we have a budget of around £1bn. The Health Board employs approximately 12,500 staff. It has three major hospitals providing a range of services: Morriston and Singleton in Swansea, and Neath Port Talbot Hospital in Baglan, Port Talbot.
