Job overview
We are looking for an enthusiastic and forward-thinking pharmacist to join our team at Morriston Hospital in a role focused on clinical, education, training and mentoring. This is a newly developed role that has clinical practice with a strong focus on workforce development and training delivery. With an increasing junior workforce, and growing education demand within the pharmacy team, the need for structured support in mentoring, coaching, research and leadership has never been greater. This is a great opportunity to stay involved in patient-facing work while also helping shape the future pharmacy workforce. You’ll be a key member of the team that supports others in their learning and development, helping to build a more resilient service and a better experience for both patients and staff. You will receive support and mentorship to help you succeed and grow in this position. Education and training remains central to high-quality clinical practice, with strong leadership embedded within the department. If you are passionate about supporting others in their development, keen to build your own leadership and mentoring skills, and want to continue making a meaningful impact on patient care, we encourage you to apply.
Main duties of the job
In this role, you will support the delivery of education and training across the pharmacy team, including trainee pharmacists, technicians, undergraduates, and post-registrants. You will play an active part in creating a positive learning environment through mentoring, coaching, and supporting the professional development of others. The post includes a clinical component, allowing you to continue contributing to patient-facing services and medicines optimisation. This blend of responsibilities ensures you maintain clinical impact while supporting colleagues in their growth and progression. You will also be involved in training activities such as education sessions, supervision, and one-to-one support, as well as contributing to quality improvement and research initiatives. The post supports service resilience through participation in weekend and bank holiday rotas and plays a key role in improving the overall training experience within Morriston Hospital. You will work closely with senior colleagues and the wider education and training team to ensure site-level training needs are met. Your involvement will help strengthen the department’s capacity to deliver high-quality care and support a growing, dynamic workforce.
