Job overview

Are you a pharmacist passionate about education and helping shape and inspire the next generation of pharmacy professionals? We are excited to advertise a lead pharmacy education position, key to the transformation
of education and training across Swansea Bay  University Health Board.

With time split between responsibilities for education and  clinical services, this is an excellent  opportunity for an advanced practicing
pharmacist to influence the way we develop our future workforce.

The post holder will have a senior role within the Health Board, responsible for shaping the delivery of our evolving multi-sector
foundation programme. They will also undertake a two-day per week service contribution to the Singleton site, although site negotiable if required.

The successful applicant will join an expanding and award winning team of core educators across the pharmacy division and be a role
model for the profession and a champion for education. They will support the strategic work plan with opportunity to represent at
regional and national level and will also be crucial in the delivery of training across our growing portfolio of programmes.

This post is uniquely positioned to challenge and change existing programmes and services. Our department and organisation is
committed to innovation, improvement and high quality education and training. If you have ideas to share and the motivation to
strive for better, we would like to hear from you.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will work collaboratively with Health Board sites and Health Education and Improvement Wales (HEIW) to ensure the
successful delivery of the multi-sector foundation programme. The post holder will also provide clinical services; including dispensary, ward-based clinical care and prescribing services where applicable.
Successful candidates will be appointed to either of the following roles dependant on qualifications and experience:

Advanced Pharmacist – Band 8a (Permanent)If personal specification is met and experience supports appointment.

Clinical Pharmacist (Band 7) – Annex 21
appointment: The successful candidate with a current level
of experience that supports appointment to a clinical pharmacist role but requires further training to support an advanced practice education role will be appointed to the Band 7 role for a 12-month period.

The candidate will be appointed under Annex 21 as they will undertake a short period of learning on the job for 12 months. During the training period, the candidate will follow a structured competency framework with support from senior mentors. On successful attainment of the competencies they will be appointed to the role of Clinical Education
Lead and Speciality Pharmacist Band 8a.

If the competency framework is not achieved within 12 months from appointment, this will not allow for successful progression to the
Band 8A role and therefore the candidate will remain in the Band 7 position.
