Job overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic, motivated and organised individual to join our Reception team within the Cardiothoracic Services.
This role is crucial to providing an efficient and effective service to our patients in our Echo, ECG, Pacing and Lung Function Departments across both the Freeman Hospital and Royal Victoria Infirmary.
The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate quality customer care, flexibility, reliability and be a strong team player.

Main duties of the job
The successful candidate will work as part of a team to provide a friendly and efficient reception service to patients coming into the hospital, putting the patient at the heart of everything you do. You will be required to demonstrate a high level of customer service skills when dealing with potentially distressing situations. You will use the Patient Administration System for booking, cancelling and rescheduling appointments either face to face or telephone, assisting with patient queries which can sometimes be of a complex nature, participating in departmental audits and reports and prioritising their own workload under the supervision of the Reception Team Lead. Good organisational and time management skills are a must.
The successful candidate will also be responsible for general admin tasks including processing referrals, filing, posting, attending meetings and completing mandatory training

Essential criteria
- NVQ Level 2 in appropriate subject (or on pathway) or equivalent qualification / experience
Desirable criteria
- Knowledge of hospital patient administration systems (eRecord)

- Previous reception/clerical experience in a similar environment
- Experience in a customer care role
