Job overview

This is an exciting opportunity to join a growing dispensary team within the QE Facilities Outpatient Pharmacy at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Gateshead. We are looking for an accredited Accuracy Checking Pharmacy Technician (ACPT) to play a key role in delivering a safe, efficient, and patient-focused service. You will support the supply of a wide range of prescriptions, including specialist medicines such as oral chemotherapy and high-cost therapies, and undertake final accuracy checking to ensure the safe supply of medicines to patients.

This role is ideal for a motivated Pharmacy Technician with ACT accreditation and a strong commitment to  accuracy checking skills, driven by being part of a dynamic, patient-centred service in a fast-paced hospital environment.

Main duties of the job

As part of a supportive and forward-thinking team, you will contribute to the smooth day-to-day running of the dispensary, working closely with Pharmacists, Technicians, and the wider dispensary support team. You will also play an important role in maintaining high professional standards, supporting service performance, and contributing to the continued development of the Outpatient dispensary services.

Working for our organisation

QE Facilities (QEF) is a wholly owned subsidiary company of Gateshead Health NHS Foundation Trust (GHNT), based in the North East of England.

We provide a range of non- clinical services to GHNT and other NHS organisations. Our services include: estates, facilities services, procurement, medical engineering and devices, endoscopy decontamination and sterile services, transport, out-patient pharmacy, and prevention & management of violence & aggression training (PMVA).

In addition we provide consultancy services, advising clients on all aspects of establishing a subsidiary company within an NHS body to the provision of VAT compliance advice.

QE Facilities work to their own Terms and Conditions and these are not the same as Gateshead Health NHS Foundation Trust Terms and Conditions. This is not an Agenda for Change Pay Rate.

QEF is a separate legal entity that operates along commercial lines, with separate governance arrangements and the ability to recruit its own staff on its own Terms & Conditions to provide greater flexibility.  QEF has been established on the solid foundations of the NHS and is able to provide a flexible, proactive range of high quality services, delivered on the lines of a commercial organisation.
