Job overview
Exciting opportunity has arisen for a band 3 nursing assistant to work on our elective and emergency surgical ward, NSECH 15.
The role involves assisting qualified nursing staff in the delivery in the high quality direct and indirect patient care, to provide assistance and support to patients, carers and the multi-disciplinary team. The successful candidate will maintain high clinical standards.

Main duties of the job
Reporting to the Ward 15 manager and deputy line managers, the individuals will be responsible for assisting the qualified staff with caring for patients, this includes; Personal care, collecting observations and escalating concerns to senior staff, able to accurately record documentation and the ability to use multiple digital systems.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
To assist the qualified nursing staff in the delivery of high quality direct and indirect patient care
To provide assistance and support to patients, carers and the multi-disciplinary team
To maintain high clinical standards
To help maintain a clean and safe ward environment
Provides and receives routine information which requires tact or persuasive skills or where there are barriers to understanding
Providing and receiving routine information orally, in writing or electronically to inform work colleagues, patients, clients, carers, the public or other External contacts
NVQ Level 3 in Health/Health & Social Care/Direct Care or a portfolio of equivalent experience
Course and experience that demonstrate transferable skills i.e. respiratory essentials, basic stoma care, palliative care course for HCAs
Previous care experience preferably in a health care setting
Good verbal and written communication
Able to use electronic systems such as PAS, ICE

- Level 3 qualification in a healthcare related subject or a portfolio of equivalent demonstrable experience
- Completion of a competency-based programme or equivalent relevant experience
- Knowledge of care and related procedures, clinical observations, relevant legislation
