Operational and Performance Manger – Neurosciences

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and highly motivated Operational and Performance Manager to work with the Group Management Team in Trauma and Neuro Services at UHCW. This post will work specifically for Neurosciences which comprises Stroke, Neurology, Neurosurgery and Neurophysiology services.

The Operational and Performance Manager will be an integral part of the Group Management Team, supporting the Clinical Head of Service, Group Manager, Associate Group Manager, Modern Matrons and specialty Clinical Leads in the development and provision of a comprehensive, high quality, patient-centered care service, by ensuring the efficient utilisation of available resource.

The post holder will work to ensure the operational performance of the specialty including performance against Trust key performance indicators (KPIs such as National Cancer Waiting Time targets, and RTT), finance and staffing plans, and supporting the delivery of the Group Strategy. This post will also be involved with medical staffing and recruitment, to ensure compliant rotas for junior and middle grade doctors. 

This role will take an active part of the Manager of the Day rota for the Trauma and Neuro Services Group where you will work alongside colleagues in a multidisciplinary footprint to support patient flow through the Trust as such the successful candidate will need to demonstrate ability to overcome operational and performance related challenges.

The post holder will work with clinicians as well as the wider management team to both continually improve the specialty, and support the delivery of the Group’s plans. They will be a highly visible and motivated person with strong leadership qualities. They will have excellent interpersonal skills allowing them to work closely with clerical staff, senior management and clinical staff alike. They must be able to raise the profile of the group across the organisation and critically, they must be passionate about delivering a world class service to patients.

The ideal candidate will be ambitious and have experience of leading staff, delivering NHS targets and dealing with operational issues within a management role. You will be committed to your own personal development and you must have the ability to manage a busy workload and delivering against tight deadlines. The post holder will be required to deputise for the Associate Group Manager, and provide cross cover as required.
