Consultant Clinical Oncologist –Head & Neck and Breast

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

1. The appointee will take ongoing responsibility for patients under their care.
2. The appointee will provide a consultation service and advisory service to other clinical colleagues in other specialties within the Trust and Primary Care.
3. The appointee will develop close collaborative links with clinicians working in their specialties and work to develop services provided to patients in these areas to the highest standards including the development of treatment protocols and guidelines.
4. The appointee will attend the site-specific MDTs and participate in, and support, the multidisciplinary care team which includes Medical Oncologists, Clinical Oncologists, Surgeons, the relevant junior team, Specialist Nursing Staff, Therapists, Dietician, Social workers, Palliative Care and Psychology services for patients and families.

• Completed Higher Specialist Training in Clinical Oncology • Awareness of current issues affecting the NHS & UK Higher Education • Advanced communication skills • Experience of teaching at postgraduate levels. • Management of Breast and Head&Neck cancer

Desirable criteria

• Should have training in educational supervision as defined by the GMC. • Attended clinical leadership training • Experience of public & patient engagement. • Clinical leadership and management experience in developing and delivering new services. • Involvement in clinical leadership roles such a participation in QIPP projects & service improvement projects. • Experience of clinical trials
