Job overview

PENDING RC APPROVAL

The post holder will join the team of 15 paediatric consultants and will contribute to the delivery and organisation of the paediatric service, participating in undergraduate and post-graduate teaching and service developments for the population of Coventry and Warwickshire.

The Women and Children’s Group comprises of Paediatrics, Neonatology, Obstetrics, Gynaecology, Midwifery, Feto-maternal medicine, Reproductive medicine, and Gynae-Oncology. The Childrens Emergency Department is jointly managed by Paediatrics and Emergency medicine. Services are provided on two sites: University Hospital, Coventry and the Hospital of St Cross in Rugby. 

Main duties of the job

Key elements of the post include:

Expertise in general paediatrics, acute and out-patient based.
Ability to deliver a Consultant of the Week service on the children’s inpatient unit and Children’s Emergency Department, 4/5 times in 12 months.
To participate in the general paediatric acute on call 1 in 6 weekends and 1 in 12 weekdays.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

General Paediatric clinics and ward rounds.
 Clinical and educational supervision of paediatric trainees.
Enthusiasm and ability to participate in the delivery of medical education and audit within the department.
 Weekly allergy clinic.
