You will play a pivitol role in supporting the multidisciplinary team who care for approximately 250 children and young people aged 0-19 years.

Main duties of the job

The Paediatric Data Manager will be based within the Paediatric Unit and report to the Lead Nurse of the Paediatric Diabetes Team. This crucial position within the team requires excellent communication and administration skills, along with the ability to multi-task and liaise effectively and efficiently with the multi-disciplinary team and stakeholders. The post holder should have relevant administrative skills and knowledge and experience in data analytics. The post holder will provide cross cover for the administrative staff within the diabetes team during times of absence.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

  • The post holder’s primary responsibilities will be to manage the Diabetes and PICAnet databases.
  • The post holder will liaise closely with clinical and non-clinical staff to assess the information and reporting requirements of the clinical databases in order to provide data for reports to the National Paediatric Diabetes Audit and the Paediatric Critical Care Network, and satisfy the data/information needs of the Trust in this respect.
  • The post holder will continue to develop a regular process/report for the submission of national reports, local audits etc complying with all relevant standards and ensuring accurate data submissions.
  • The post holder will maintain and keep up to date the clinical databases and deliver training programmes for end users.
  • The post holder will analyse the clinical database systems and identity problems, working with the system suppliers as necessary.
  • The post holder will attend meetings to be available for questions and advice
  • The post holder will work in a way that is patient centred and involves the multi-disciplinary team
  • The post holder will promote a culture which will ensure the security and confidentiality of data standards set by current legislation.
  • The post holder will identify departmental needs and areas for improvement in the clinical database systems, and make recommendations for example improving the accuracy of the data.
  • The post holder will work closely with the teams to support in the production of various data, information, demographical maps, slide presentations and posters for teaching purposes and clinical meetings.
  • The post holder will behave in a professional manner at all times.
  • The post holder will work autonomously without direct supervision, collaborate with and report directly to managers and clinical staff.
