Job overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Radiology plain film department at University Hospital Coventry and Warwickshire as a band 2 Radiology assistant/bookings coordinator part time.
The successful candidate will join the Radiology plain film team to provide an excellent, friendly and organised booking experience for our patients. Additionally you will also work clinically as a Radiology Assistant.
The successful candidate will need to be experienced in or be willing to learn how to use Radiology imaging systems and have a good understanding of patient pathways and referral processes and good people skills.
The candidate must have excellent verbal and written communication skills and experience in patient/customer contact.

Main duties of the job
The department provides a fast and responsive outpatient, GP and clinic appointment booking service. When working with the bookings team the applicant will be expected to ring and agree appointment dates with our patients as well as working with members of the wider multidisciplinary team who refer patients for x-ray.

- Assisting the Imaging team in the provision of exemplary patient care.
- Contributing to the support and monitoring of patients
- Identifying and reporting any significant changes that might affect the patient's health and well-being to the appropriate person
- Admin support - Booking patients on to our system

Booking assistant job description and main responsibilities.
GP Bookings:
- Ensure all urgent chest x-rays are booked within 2 weeks.
- Phone fracture clinic patients and all other urgent requests and make appointments.
- Book appointments across all 3 sites. University Hospital, Rugby St Cross and City of Coventry Health Centre.
Other tasks
- Answering calls and patient queries/Rebooking.
- Manage DNA’S
- Manage Lithotripsy lists.
- Book cardiac lists.
- Book Paediatric lists.
- Answer emails from T/O – Pre-Ops.
- Manage the x-ray room diary and ensure rooms are closed for services or maintenance.
- Ensure any gaps in City of Coventry health centre list are backfilled.
- Liaise with prisons to arrange appointments.
- Send appointment letters.
