Applications are invited for enthusiastic, motivated and committed individuals to join our friendly and dynamic team within Acute Medicine at George Eliot Hospital NHS Trust. Our unit has been at the forefront in improving the safety and quality of patient care within the Trust, and is looking to expand our capacity in providing ambulatory and short stay care.

 The Department of Acute Medicine is being reconfigured with the aim of offering seven day per week provision in order that our patients are provided with high quality clinical care at the front door and beyond, in partnership with our Accident and Emergency Department team. We are supported in this by our Divisional Managers, with whom we have excellent working relationships. Main duties of the job

The purpose of this role is to further support the Acute Medicine service and to provide daily review of patients with unselected medical illness to ensure optimal and early review of patients. You will be part of the existing Acute Medical Team in providing a first class service for the population of Nuneaton and Bedworth, North Warwickshire, North Coventry and South West Leicestershire.

The successful candidate will be a team player and with considerable experience of and enthusiasm for adult Acute Medicine. Focused interests in Ambulatory Emergency Care and High Acuity patients are of particular interest.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

The post holder will join a substantive multi-disciplinary team and the successful candidate will be well supported working in a friendly, modern and well equipped unit and will be joining a trust with excellent professional and academic facilities. George Eliot Hospital is affiliated with the University of Warwick Medical School. In addition on the main hospital site there is also a first class modern education and conference facility in the George Eliot Training and Education Centre (GETEC), housing an excellent library and state of the art learning support facilities. Qualifications and Professional Registration

Essential criteria
  • MRCP or MRCS for ST3
  • ALS Certification
  • Full GMC Registration with license to practice

Experience and Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Broad clinical experience within General/ Acute Medicine
  • Knowledge of medical audit, medical education, current clinical and medical best practice
  • Undertaken complete audit cycle and participate in completed clinical research projects

Skills and Abilities

Essential criteria
  • Ability to advise on efficient and smooth running of a specialist service
  • Ability to organise and participate in and evidence of teaching and training undergraduate and postgraduate students
  • Ability to apply research outcomes to clinical practice
