Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) Checks
Many of the roles we advertise have a requirement for a DBS check to be carried out. If you are successful for a role and it requires a DBS check the Trust will carry out the initial check and subscription to the DBS Update Service, however successful candidates will be expected to cover the associated costs . Details of this will be sent to successful candidates in their offer letter.
Probationary Period
All new staff to the Trust will be subject to a standard 6 month probationary period, the details of which will duly follow in your contract of employment.

Agile and Flexible Working
All our staff will have a work base. However the Trust operates as an Agile Working Team therefore staff may be working from home on a regular basis as required by the service. However, occasionally travel around Warwickshire and into your base will be required so access to your own transport would be helpful.
The Trust also welcome staff to work flexibly and we would welcome the conversation at interview regarding flexible working.

Job overview
We are seeking an experienced Advanced Cardiac Physiologist to join our forward-thinking Cardiology team. The role encompasses CRM and catheter lab services, supporting a wide range of devices including pacemakers, CRTs, ICDs, S-ICDs, Micras, and conduction system pacing. The post holder will assist with complex implants, perform device follow-up, and contribute to service development. You will work within a multidisciplinary team, demonstrating strong clinical, technical, and leadership skills while driving innovation and delivering high-quality patient care.
Main duties of the job

To provide clinical leadership in cardiac rhythm management service including remote monitoring services, working alongside other physiologist leads to ensure delivery of a quality clinical service. The role involves supervision and training of junior members of the team, and wider training of other staff groups as required. You will be expected to refresh and extend your own clinical skills and partake in service development and research within the trust. Working over South Warwickshire NHS foundation trust, predominantly based at the Warwick site. |

Clinical/Technical Duties To participate in the provision of the cardiac rhythm management including remote monitoring service and technical invasive cardiology service and assist during the full range of cardiac procedures undertaken within the angiography suite. To maintain standards of technical competency in the provision of all technical cardiac procedures (invasive and non-invasive). To assist with the efficient running of the technical service by prioritising the daily workload where appropriate. To effectively, promptly, and professionally respond to cardiac/life-threatening emergency situations maintaining control and requesting assistance as necessary. To be responsible for identifying equipment faults, and directly resolve fault issues by reporting them in a timely manner. To provide first line interpretation and full technical reports of individual tests performed whilst reviewing/assisting with the reporting of studies performed by junior staff members. To remain up to date with latest trends in clinical physiology translating these into practice and transferring this knowledge to staff within one’s area of responsibility. To assist with research studies as required. To ensure all patients receive appropriate and individualised care. To undertake service provision and/or training in other areas of Clinical Physiology, as required. Training, Teaching and Research Responsibilities Regular participation with MDT, cardiology research, performing clinical trials, audit and equipment testing. Involvement with the training of junior team and other staff members. Support in the training of internal and external students pursuing a career in Cardiology. Commitment to continual professional development through self-directed learning as well as relevant courses and qualifications. Develop areas of interest within the department. Participate in the Trust appraisal process and personal reviews and work to achieve agreed set objectives Care for Patients and/or Service Users Ensure all equipment is maintained and calibrated to provide accurate results and patient safety at all times, taking appropriate action to rectify any faults. Interact with both patients and staff in a professional and courteous manner at all times. Ensure that all Trust standards are maintained and monitored to improve the quality of care to all who come into contact with services provided by South Warwickshire NHS Foundation Trust. Actively maintain a safe and clean working environment. Work independently and as part of a team supporting patients, colleagues and other professionals in the delivery of care. Essential criteria
- BSc (Hons) Clinical Physiology or equivalent
- Intermediate Life Support Skills
- Heart Research UK or International Board of Heart Rhythm Examiners in Devices or Electrophysiology
- Advanced Life Support
- RCCP or equivalent registration
- Post grad Studies in relevant field
Desirable criteria
- Teaching certificate/ Assessors Award
Experience
Essential criteria
- High level of specialist knowledge in areas of non-invasive cardiology, equivalent to that of master’s level
- Extensive experience in physiological investigations
- Extensive relevant experience for cardiac rhythm management including remote monitoring service and general physiological measurements experience
- Demonstrate competency to lead in ECG, ETT, Ambulatory Monitoring, pacing and complex device follow-up
- Experience in staff teaching/mentoring
Desirable criteria
- Experience in staff management
- Experience in performing appraisals
- Experience in service development
Skills
Essential criteria
- Sound knowledge of invasive cardiology with competency in simple/complex device implants and diagnostic catheters
- Evidence of continuing professional development
- To interpret and make judgements on all tests which may alter a patients treatment or management as an Independent Practitioner
- Ability to make judgements on patients welfare and compare a range of options which may include addition investigations, discontinuation of a test or admittance to hospital
- Ability to write clear test reports as an independent practitioner for routine and complex procedures
- To review and make judgements on test results that have been carried out by other members of staff
- Ability to provide a range of complex facts, analysis and interpretation of all areas within the cardiology discipline
- To use advanced analytical and judgemental skills with regards to national and local policies
- Advanced skills in the provision of complex facts, analyses and interpretation
- Ability to prioritise all patient investigations
- Awareness of when to escalate adverse findings to Cardiology outreach in accordance with departmental protocol.
