Junior Clinical Fellow in Emergency Department
NHS Medical & Dental: Local Appointment nodal point 1 (MT01)
Job overview
We are recruiting for junior clinical fellows for a fixed 12-month period from August 2026 to August 2027.
Applicants interested in a purely clinical role and for less than 12 months would be welcome, but preference is given to those who commit for a year. Jobs which are for less than 1 year are purely clinical jobs.
A selection of clinical fellow roles come with the opportunity to have 25% nonclinical time, mainly dedicated to undergraduate Education in conjunction with BSMS.
Emergency Medicine is evolving rapidly. At University Hospitals Sussex Eastern Site Emergency Departments (RSCH and PRH), we are ahead of the game with a team of dynamic and enthusiastic colleagues, exploring innovative ways of working and expanding our departments, services and staff.
We focus on sustainability, longevity, excellence and work-life balance.
Main duties of the job
The clinical duties of the post include the following:
It is expected that the successful applicant(s) undertake full clinical duties on the SHO Rota.

· 1-in-3 weekend frequency as a maximum
· 1-in-5-night frequency as a maximum
· Attendance in weekly 2-hour teaching sessions
· Evidence of output for the non-clinical project time.
The post holder accepts that they will also perform duties in occasional emergencies and unforeseen circumstances at the request of the appropriate consultant, in consultation, where practicable, with their colleagues, both senior and junior. While it has been agreed between the professions that they will perform such duties, the Secretary of State stresses that additional commitments arising under this sub-section are exceptions and you should not be required to undertake work of this kind for prolonged periods or on a regular basis.
