Junior Clinical Fellow in Medicine

NHS Medical & Dental: Local Appointment nodal point 1 (MT01)

Job overview

We are recruiting for junior clinical fellows for a fixed 12-month period from August 2026 to August 2027.

Applicants interested in a purely clinical role and for less than 12 months would be welcome, but preference is given to those who commit for a year. Jobs which are for less than 1 year are purely clinical jobs.

A selection of clinical fellow roles come with the opportunity to have 25% nonclinical time, dedicated to undergraduate Education in conjunction with BSMS.

The Clinical Fellow posts are designed to help build CVs (in work time). Despite being non-training posts, the feedback has been that similar posts in other departments have been brilliant for training and career progression and most people go onto get training positions afterwards in their chosen specialty and region or have a well needed year out of training.

Main duties of the job

The post holder accepts that they will also perform duties in occasional emergencies and unforeseen circumstances at the request of the appropriate consultant, in consultation, where practicable, with their colleagues, both senior and junior. While it has been agreed between the professions that they will perform such duties, the Secretary of State stresses that additional commitments arising under this sub-section are exceptions and you should not be required to undertake work of this kind for prolonged periods or on a regular basis
