To work within the multidisciplinary team to provide a high quality of psychiatric assessment, treatment and care to users and their carers in a range of settings. This includes Mental Health Act assessments during working hours.
Psychiatric and, when appropriate, physical investigations of patients in hospital settings. Related medical and administrative documentation including preparation of Mental Health Review Tribunal reports.
To operate within guidelines, policies and procedures relevant to the post.
To provide clinical advice, liaison and consultation as required to colleagues in primary care, community services and acute specialties in line with new ways of working

Essential criteria

Approved clinician status OR able to achieve within 3 months of appointment

Transport

Essential criteria

Holds and will use valid UK driving licence OR provides evidence of proposed alternative.

Qualifications

Essential criteria

MB BS or equivalent medical qualification.
Fully registered with the GMC with a licence to practise at the time of appointment.
Included on the GMC Specialist Register OR within six months.
In good standing with GMC with respect to warning and conditions on practice

CLINICAL SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE

Excellent knowledge in specialty
Excellent clinical skills using bio-psycho-social perspective and wide medical knowledge
Excellent oral and written communication skills in English

We limit this to one responsibility to allow for focused time on that topic, rather than having your time stretched too thinly. When taking on an additional responsibility, your case volume is reduced, making time available for this focused time.

For Senior Assessors, additional responsibility options include supporting more complex cases, ensuring quality assurance, providing training, facilitating family engagement, and contributing to pathway development.
