COVID-19 Vacancy Mental Health Practitioner

NHS AfC: Band 6

We’re a large NHS Mental Health Trust in South East England. We’re looking for people to help us provide high quality services for the patients, carers and local communities we serve.

We want patients and staff to recommend our organisation as a place where they would be happy for their friends and family to be treated. You can help us do this by bringing your skills, experience and commitment to Sussex Partnership.

Band 6 Crisis Mental Health Practitioner (with Band 5-6 development opportunity)

We are seeking to recruit passionate, knowledgeable and dynamic mental health professionals to join our well-established and innovative Sussex CAMHS Crisis and Home Treatment Team (Urgent Help Service). You will have the ability and passion to be an autonomous, creative and person-centred practitioner and will be joining a team with a vibrant team spirit. The work is varied, with a holistic and inclusive team ethos.

You must have a core mental health professional qualification and be registered with a professional body to be eligible to apply for this position. Part-time hours can be considered. If you do not yet have the experience required for a Band 6 position, we can offer a Band 5 to 6 development role - please specify on your application if this is what you are applying for.

We are a friendly and supportive multi-disciplinary team, dedicated to providing a high quality service which complements the work done by our wider CAMHS colleagues and in liaison/partnership with other key young people's services. Our core business includes assessing young people's mental health, including attention to risk management and care planning, and working with families and the wider systems that support these young people.

The goal of the service is to offer intensive support and risk management in the community at times of crisis, and to minimise the number of young people admitted to inpatient mental health units (both our own inpatient unit at Chalkhill, and other specialist out of area provisions). For those young people who do require an inpatient admission, we aim to help reduce the length of these admissions and support a timely discharge.

Flexibility with working patterns to include some weekend and evening work is essential, as is own transport - as the role involves travel across the whole Sussex County area. We are keen to consider applicants from a range of professional backgrounds such as Social Work, Nursing & Occupational Therapy.
