Detailed job description and main responsibilities

REQUIREMENTS

Post-graduate doctoral level training in applied psychology (or it's equivalent).

· Experience of working with young people with an eating disorder preferred although not essential.

· Extensive experience of working within a multidisciplinary team.

· Experience of supervising staff.

· Wide knowledge of local and national policies.

MAIN DUTIES

· To carry out specialist psychological assessments of young people referred to the service.

· To formulate and implement plans for the formal psychological treatment and/or management.

· To be responsible for implementing a range of psychological interventions for individuals, carers, families and groups.

Qualifications

Essential criteria

Post-graduate doctoral level training in applied psychology [or its equivalent for those trained before 1996 or outside the UK*] as approved by the HCPC, including specifically models of psychopathology, clinical psychometrics, two or more distinct psychological therapies and lifespan developmental psychology.  A
Professionally registered as a Clinical Psychologist with the Health Professions Council (HCPC)

Desirable criteria

Pre-qualification training and qualifications in research methodology, staff training and/or other fields of applied psychology

Knowledge and Experience

Essential criteria

Experience of specialist psychological assessment and treatment of clients across the full range of care settings, including outpatient, community, primary care and in patient settings.
Demonstrate specialist experience gained post-qualification of working as an applied psychologist
Experience of working with a wide variety of client groups, across the whole life course presenting problems that reflect the full range of clinical severity
Experience of teaching, training and/or supervision
Evidence of continuing professional development as required by the HCPC.

Well-developed skills in the ability to communicate effectively
Skills in the use of complex methods of psychological assessment formulation and management
Ability to plan and manage a complex work load with competing demands.
IT skills - ability to use a computer and input information to the Trust patient information record

We limit this to one responsibility to allow for focused time on that topic, rather than having your time stretched too thinly. When taking on an additional responsibility, your case volume is reduced, making time available for this focused time.

For Senior Assessors, additional responsibility options include supporting more complex cases, ensuring quality assurance, providing training, facilitating family engagement, and contributing to pathway development.
