Job overview

You will provide occupational therapy interventions for referred clients using evidence based, client      centred principles to assess, plan, implement and evaluate interventions.

To promote and develop the role of Occupational Therapy within the home intervention team in SFEDS.

To act as Lead Practitioner and be part of the MDT in providing meal supervision and support with families including risk assessment planning and collaborative care plans.

Main duties of the job

 

·       To manage a caseload of clients.

·       To provide specialist clinical advice and input for clients with complex problems and    needs.

·       To ensure occupational therapy contribution to the provision of quality clinical care and performance standards.

 

·       To participate in the planning, development and evaluation of occupational therapy and local multi-professional services.

 

Working for our organisation

The role sits under our specialist Sussex-wide Family Eating Disorder Service (SFEDS), which is a part of our Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service (CAMHS) at Sussex Partnership.  We work with young people aged 10-18 with anorexia nervosa or bulimia nervosa and their families and support their recovery.

We are a service of friendly and highly skilled Family and Systemic Psychotherapists, Psychiatrists, Paediatricians, Clinical Psychologists, Nurses, Dietitians and Social Workers with support from an administration team.

Operate as an occupational therapy practitioner and manage an appropriate complex        clinical caseload

Promote evidence-based practice in occupational therapy and the relevant mental health  service/ learning disability service

Provide a specialised range of clinical interventions and demonstrate knowledge of models  of practice

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Evidence of post graduate level study/training
  • Registration with the HPC as an occupational therapist

Knowlegde and experience

Essential criteria
  • Experience as a qualified occupational therapist in mental health
  • Experience of both group and individual work
  • Experience of multidisciplinary working
  • Experience as a Care Coordinator
Desirable criteria
  • Experience of working with young people with an eating disorder.

Skills

Essential criteria
  • Able to communicate complex condition related information to service users, carers, families and colleagues
  • Work with others in the development of knowledge, ideas and work practices including policies and strategies.
  • Ability to use Trust IT systems including e-mail and electronic clinical records (standard keyboard skills)

Approach and Values
