Practitioner Psychologist, Psychological Therapist or Psychotherapist

NHS AfC: Band 7

Come and join us

We're looking for people who share our values (compassion, accountability and optimism) to help us provide high quality care to the patients, carers, families and local communities we serve. We specialise in providing NHS mental health and learning disability services.

So what can we offer you in return?

We're an organisation which puts people first. We'll do everything possible to help you feel respected, valued and included. We'll help you learn, acquire new skills and gain further experience to support your career development. And we'll provide the opportunity for you to bring your fresh ideas to work about how we can do things differently and continue improving.

You will also be joining a health and care system committed to working together to do the best we can for the communities we serve. Above all, at Sussex Partnership you'll have the chance to make a difference to the lives of the patients, carers and families across our communities.

As a Trust we are committed in making a difference. Your development is important to us, so don't forget to ask us during interview what opportunities we can offer. We can offer fully funded lifelong learning opportunities such as an apprenticeship from GCSE to Masters level.

If you like the sound of that, then come and join our team.

Job overview

This is an excellent opportunity to join a creative and dynamic psychological professions team working across the Neighbourhood Mental Health Teams in coastal West Sussex. We are committed to making our service a great place to work, where everyone has access to excellent CPD and supervision, and opportunities for training in approaches relevant to our care pathways.

We encourage applications from Practitioner Psychologists, Psychological Therapists and Psychotherapists interested in providing treatment and support to people with severe and enduring mental health difficulties, including psychosis, complex emotional needs (CEN) and complex PTSD.  You will join a friendly and supportive multidisciplinary team in Arun district.

We are looking for someone with excellent clinical skills, able to engage positively with colleagues, service users, and the wider community. You will be able to think creatively with partnership organisations, modelling our strong commitment to trauma-informed approaches, co-production, and inclusion.

Main duties of the job

As a psychological professional, you will offer assessment, formulation, and evidence-based interventions for people with a range of mental health difficulties. Experience of working with psychosis is desirable. As the post sits within community services, you will offer supervision and training to both psychological professionals and multidisciplinary colleagues. You will build close working relationships with our local community of psychological professionals working into other teams. As a professional group, we have a rich and diverse range of skills and experience, and pride ourselves on being a helpful and supportive group. Your career progression is important to us, and we will provide local opportunities to develop leadership and supervision skills.

We have strong links with our Research and Development Department and there are multiple opportunities to work alongside R&D colleagues to embed good practice and evaluate our work. For example the new SuPER clinic led by Prof Kathy Greenwood and Compassionate Resilience Group trials for cPTSD led by Prof Nick Grey and Deborah Lee.
