Clinical Director for OPMH & Dementia Services

NHS Medical & Dental: Specialty Doctor

We’re a large NHS Mental Health Trust in South East England. We’re looking for people to help us provide high quality services for the patients, carers and local communities we serve.

We want patients and staff to recommend our organisation as a place where they would be happy for their friends and family to be treated. You can help us do this by bringing your skills, experience and commitment to Sussex Partnership.

Opportunity for a Clinical Director for Older People’s Mental Health and Dementia Services.

This is a new post in the Trust’s Clinical Leadership structure and aligns with recommendations arising from the Strategic Review of the Trust’s Older People’s Mental Health and Dementia Services undertaken in June 2017.

The post will initially be for two years and then subject to review.

The remit of this role is to

  • lead on the findings and recommendations within the strategic review
  • developing a single clear vision and strategy for Older People’s Mental Health and Dementia services
  • ensuring there is adequate clinical leadership throughout the services
  • reviewing the functioning of the Later Life & Dementia Clinical Academic Group and putting in place adequate governance structures.

Sussex is characterised by one of the highest proportion of older adults in the UK with over 21% of the population over 65 years of age, more than half of whom are over 75.  Population projections reveal that this will grow faster than the national average with a 17% increase by 2020/21. As a result it is of particular importance that the Trust ensures its services work well for this expanding patient group and this role is a crucial component of that ambition. We are currently experiencing extensive change to our commissioning landscape and the emergence of the Sustainability and Transformation Partnership - again this role will be an influential, clinical voice within this landscape.

We do hope that you would be interested in taking up this exciting opportunity to be involved in this crucial work in developing our Older People’s Mental Health and Dementia Services.

Interviews will be held on Thursday 22nd August
